The best sodium tracker app for how you eat: 5 compared

The best sodium tracker app depends on how you log a meal. Sodio counts sodium alone. Cronometer tracks every nutrient and scans barcodes on its free plan. Cloche reads a meal you describe in a sentence or a photo. Sodio and My Dash Diet, the best-rated apps built for sodium, both hold 4.5 stars on the App Store. Three blueberry pancakes with syrup come back at 983 mg of sodium in Cloche.

What do sodium app reviews complain about most? Charges, in 166 of 361.

We read 361 recent App Store reviews of 6 food and sodium apps on 12 September 2026. Subscriptions, ads and surprise charges came up in 166. A wish for something simple and fast came up in 151.

Barcodes that would not scan came up in 88, foods the app could not find in 68, and doubt about the numbers in 54. 16 reviewers said a doctor sent them to track sodium. These are complaints about the category, not about any one app.

What does Cloche do differently? It reads each meal for blood pressure as you log it.

Describe the meal in a sentence or take a photo. Cloche writes the entry and estimates 26 nutrients. It shows the sodium in the plate next to 600 mg for one meal and 1,500 mg for the day, the ideal the American Heart Association gives. It reads potassium in the same meal.

Ask where this week’s sodium came from, and it answers from your journal, plate by plate. Cronometer and MyFitnessPal Premium also log from a photo or your voice. The difference is the reading under each meal and the questions about your own week. We check the estimates against USDA reference foods and publish the error.

Where is Cloche behind? Barcodes, Apple Health and price.

Cloche has no barcode scanner, which matters if most of what you eat comes in a package. It does not sync with Apple Health, and it runs on iPhone only. It estimates 26 nutrients against Cronometer’s 95-plus vitamins and minerals.

Sodio lets you set your own daily sodium target; Cloche reads against 1,500 mg. After TestFlight, Cloche will cost $12.99 a month, more than Cronometer Gold at $10.99, and Sodio Pro is listed at $4.99 or $23.99.
