A GERD diet food journal for heartburn
Finish eating three hours before you lie down. US guidance says that can ease heartburn at night. Tell Cloche what you ate or take a photo, and the entry keeps the hour along with the estimated fat. Here is one bowl from the demo, logged at 9:15 pm.
- Best for
- People with heartburn who want the fat and the hour of every meal in one place.
- Price

Which plates come closest to 35 g of fat in one meal?
A fatty meal sits in the stomach longer, and the valve at the top of the stomach stays relaxed while it does. These six carry the most fat in Cloche’s food data, next to the 35 g in one meal the demo compares against. Recipes and portions vary.
| Plate | Portion | Estimated fat | Of 35 g in one meal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steak | 8 oz | 36 g | 103% |
| Cheeseburger | 1 burger | 34 g | 97% |
| Chicken Caesar Salad | 1 large bowl | 30 g | 86% |
| Cheesecake | 1 slice | 28 g | 80% |
| Pepperoni Pizza | 2 slices | 28 g | 80% |
| Chicken Burrito | 1 burrito | 28 g | 80% |
Estimates from Cloche’s food data, compared with the demo’s 35 g reference for one meal. These amounts are not measurements of your meal.
How long before bed was the last bite?
Lying down on a full stomach is when heartburn happens most. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases puts it at three hours. Eat that long before you lie down and night-time symptoms may ease. The American College of Gastroenterology asks for two hours before bedtime, two to three before lying down.
Cloche keeps the hour on every entry, so a run of late dinners is something you can look back on. The demo above shows a bowl at 9:15 pm.
Both also name the usual foods: chocolate, coffee, mint, tomato, citrus, alcohol, fried and fatty plates. Both say people differ in which ones bother them. Cloche shows what a meal carried and when you ate it. Which of those foods are yours is a conversation with your clinician.
Say what you ate and when. Cloche reads both.
If searching for every ingredient keeps you from logging meals, start with a sentence. Say “poke bowl at nine,” or take a photo. Cloche creates an entry you can review and correct.
See estimated calories, protein, carbs, fat and 26 nutrients. A tracker would add the bowl to a total. Cloche reads it for heartburn as it lands, the fat and the hour together, then answers questions about the week. We check the estimates against USDA reference foods. They remain estimates.
Your doctor may be watching more than one number. Cloche reads the same plate for digestion and blood sugar as well.

An estimate of the meal. Never a promise about tonight.
Cloche describes the food you log and estimates its nutrients. It does not promise that a plate will settle your heartburn, and it never tells you what you have.
Heartburn that wakes you, trouble swallowing, or symptoms that keep coming back belong in a conversation with your clinician. Cloche does not ask about your medication.
